Overview:
The OTHM Online Diploma in Education and Training Management course can help assessors with their assessing skills. This Level 5 Online Education Diploma course is a teaching course which has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is an ‘in service’ qualification designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers in England. All learners must have access to 100 hours of teaching and there must be a minimum of eight observations of practice, totaling a minimum of eight hours. The objective of the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training qualification is to give the learner the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills needed to confirm occupational competence. This includes the planning and delivering of schemes of work and sessions, negotiation of individual goals, different teaching and learning strategies, communication issues and exploring a range of assessment practices. Equivalencies
The OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training has been given the go-ahead for accreditation by the Education Training Foundation. The designation of Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills will be available to learners who successfully complete this qualification (QTLS). The Society for Education and Training (SET), the industry’s professional body for persons working as teachers and trainers, administers this independent and subsequent process known as professional formation through which this is granted. Entry requirements
For entry onto the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training qualification, learners must:
• Hold a relevant vocational and/or academic qualification of at least the level above that of their learners and ideally a minimum Level 3 qualification in his/her own area of specialism.
• Have access to 100 teaching practice hours during which learners have full responsibility for planning, delivering and assessing specific area/s of the institution’s provision.
• Learners must be 19 years old or older at the beginning of the course
Modules structure
A minimum of 360 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) are advised for the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training course, which comprises of 4 mandatory units and 8 optional units totaling 1200 hours of Total Qualification Time (TQT). The optional units chosen will influence the maximum number of guided learning hours.
Learners must obtain a minimum of 120 credits to earn the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training; this includes 45 credits from Group B’s optional courses as well as 75 credits from Group A’s required units. Level 5 credits must make up at least 61 credits (therefore a minimum of 6 optional credits must be achieved at level 5)
